Local SEO Series · Issue 10
The Operating System
Author: Thomas McLoughlin · 6 Sep 2026
Knowledge without a system produces inconsistent results. This final issue turns the previous principles into a practical weekly and monthly rhythm.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is steady, correct activity that compounds.
Weekly rhythm
- Check Google Business Profile for new reviews and questions. Respond.
- Publish one useful post or update if activity has been quiet.
- Request reviews from recently completed jobs using the specific-request approach.
- Spot-check two or three core queries in an incognito window.
- Fix any obvious NAP or hours mismatches that appear.
Monthly rhythm
- Full Google Business Profile audit against the completeness checklist.
- Review the top service and location pages for accuracy and answer quality.
- Validate LocalBusiness schema if any details have changed.
- Analyse review themes and velocity.
- Update the short list of priority service areas if demand has shifted.
- Review the three core metrics defined in Issue 9.
Quarterly rhythm
- Deeper citation and NAP consistency check.
- Refresh photos and any outdated service descriptions.
- Re-assess which AI tools are still saving time versus creating noise.
- Compare current visibility against the baseline established in Issue 1.
What to Avoid
- Trying to do everything every week.
- Letting the system become so complex that it is abandoned.
- Ignoring the Google Business Profile for long stretches.
- Measuring only activity instead of outcomes.
- Restarting from zero every time search results shift.
Actions this week
- Block 45–60 minutes on the same day each week for the weekly rhythm.
- Create a simple checklist that lists the weekly and monthly tasks.
- Assign ownership if more than one person is involved.
- Run the first weekly check using the list above.
- Schedule the first monthly review in the calendar.
